Willm Pinot Blanc 2018

A pale yellow with a fresh and floral nose reminiscent of elderflower; notes of gooseberries. The attack is supple. Fresh, dry and easy to drink, it goes well with Alsatian specialties (tarte flambée, charcuterie).

Santolin Gladysdale Chardonnay 2018

2018 vintage was warm and long in the Yarra Valley. The quality of fruit was by and large excellent so it comes as no surprise that Santolin got it right too. This is textural, peaches, melons, red apples, citrus and minerality. It's taut, just stopping short of racy because the middle palate shows nutty, pastry-like (short-bread) toastiness and there's some oak influence on flavour. Put simply, it's yummy.

Domaine de Seminaire Cotes du Rhone 2017

80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Carignan and certified organically grown; this is a deep ruby colour with purple reflections. There's loads of wild berry aromas with hints of liquorice and menthol and an almost wet stone character; minerality. A good balance of body and fruit on the palate that mirrors the nose. Great tannins structure and the length is excellent.

Domaine de la Merize Moulin a Vent 2018

100% Old Vine Gamay. Patrick makes sensational old school Cru Beaujolais. Its what he does. He has plots around the village & produces wine of extraordinary longevity. The 2018 was perfect, The nose begins discreetly but then begins to expand wonderfully, a lovely smooth rich fruit throughout, total harmony, very lovely long and fine. The fruit sets on the palate like jugs of dark purple mulberry fruit combined with touches of liquorice then a fine tannin grip that comes from the skin settling post ferment in the classic old cement tanks. Its a morning noon & night wine that perhaps we can just about restrict ourselves to noon & night.

Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir 2016

Ethereal nose, sexy, beguiling aromas that you want to simply linger and smell the wine over and over. The palate flows beautifully. It takes a few moments to open up but when it does it hits with soft, supple red and black fruits, plums, blackberry, cherry, sour cherry, undergrowth, sweat earth & spices. It persists for minutes on the palate and the tannins are soft, powdery and sinewy. Another excellent Pinot Noir from Richard McIntyre.

Chateau de Cerons Graves Rouge 2016

Dark purple red with violet hue. Elegant nose with fine fruit, blackberries, raspberries and hints of cassis, toasted aroma in the background with hints of mild spices…

This was a great year reflecting both quality and consistency. The weather was perfect. It was hot and sunny weather until late July. Cooler temperatures and a few showers in August were conducive to good, even ripening, and the grapes were picked in excellent condition.
The harvest and fermentation took place without a hitch. Merlot & Cabernet were picked in several passes under ideal conditions.
