BK Wines “Springs Hill” Red Blend 2015 (96JH)

A blend of Mourvèdre, Shiraz & Grenache from Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. This is a dark, brooding, deep contemplator of a wine.

96 Points, James Halliday’s Wine Companion, “An (unspecified percentage) blend of mourvedre, shiraz and grenache from Blewitt Springs, 100% whole bunches, wild-fermented, 1 month on skins, matured in French puncheons (10% new). It has remarkable colour, deep and bright, setting the scene for a wine of perfect balance and flavours of every manner of red, purple, blue and black fruits. There is so much going on ? including the impact of fine tannins ? it is perhaps inevitable that it should back off infinitesimally on the finish, and crass to mention it.”

Brendon writes, “Think existential angst, just a lot more enjoyable. Exactly what you would expect of a Rhône blend reborn in a sun-burnt country – luscious, fleshy and intense with the lift of rose-petal concentrate. The tannins on this wine, similar to the BK Sparks Grenache 2015, are coating and mouth-filling, though considerably more rounded, grippy and sweet. Grab a bottle of BK Red Blend 2015, a soulful friend, a fire pit and a starry night and solve the world’s problems.”
