Bodegas Exopto Rioja Bozeto de Exopto Rosé  2016

The baby of the family, Exopto’s Bozeto Rosé 2016 is crafted from 50% Garnacha and 50% Tempranillo. The grapes for Tom Puyaubert’s sophomore effort comes from a single plot of mature vines (30-50 years old), located at altitude in the village of Ábalos (Rioja Alta). Made with the direct press method, and fermented in tank with natural yeasts, this crisp, vibrant rosado succeeds in bringing out the mouth-watering fruitiness of the Grenache, offset by the complexity of the Tempranillo. This is a wine for pure drinking pleasure.

More Information

  • 1 from the Latin exopto, are, avi, atum. To desire eagerly, long for.
  • 2 winery founded in 2003 by Tom Puyaubert in La Rioja (municipality of Laguardia).
  • 3 Wine made from the Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano grape varieties to express the complexity of La Rioja and its “terroir”.

THE VINEYARDS: In total there are about 10 ha of vineyards which we work on and use in our wine production. These 10 ha are divided up into 15 “micro-parcels” that have their considerable age (30 to 90 years old) and bush-trained vines in common.

Once again, the choice of vineyards is based on the idea of combination: different types of soil, orientation, altitude, and especially climate and terroir.

All the Tempranillo vineyards are located in the town of Abalos, in the Rioja Alta, where the climate enjoys an Atlantic influence and is better suited to expressing the refinement and complexity of this variety.

The Garnacha and Graciano vineyards are mostly situated on the hillsides of Monte Yerga in the south of La Rioja. The vineyards there are influenced by the Mediterranean, an essential climatic condition for developing the Garnacha properly and for full maturity of the Graciano.
