More Information

The name John Wallace may not sound familiar to those in the winemaking industry. However, the man behind the name has been helping to produce some of the Hunter Valley’s best wines for the past 15 years; Scarborough Wines, Thomas Wines, Hunter’s Dream Estate, and Bimbadgen Estate, to name a few.

Richard John Wallace Done is the skilled winemaker in question. Richard was named after his two grandfathers, John and Wallace. He is well-known face of the Hunter Valley, a respected colleague in the local winemaking industry, partner to Beth, and Dad to Florence, Stella, and Tilly the Labrador.

Richard has a master’s degree in Wine Science and Viticulture, and in 2015, he was awarded the Alisdair Sutherland Scholarship for up-and-coming wine show judge, as well as nominated for the Hunter Valley Rising Star award and the prestigious Young Gun of Wine award.

So, what can we expect from the man who has been taught by some of the best winemakers in the country?

“My Wines offer a relaxed yet upbeat flow of freshness. I invite you to enjoy them, peel back a few layers, but not take it too seriously. Try not to indulge in the finite structures, just enjoy, reach for another bottle and have fun with it.”

Richard producers an exciting Chardonnay and Shiraz and two great little blends called Maggie’s white and the very delicious JuJu red.
