Domaine de Font-Sane Gigondas Cuvee Tradition 2015

Made from a 9Ha block in Gigondas from 72% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 3% Mourvèdre & 2% Cinsault.

91 points, Joe Czerwinski,, "In contrast to the estate's bottling from higher up in the Dentelles, the 2015 Gigondas Tradition offers more fruit and drinkability. Cherries lead the way in this silky, medium-bodied wine that should drink well for 5-8 years. Dried spices fan out on the finish."

Chateau Husson Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2016

(90-92) Points, Joe Czerwinski,, "More concentrated and tannic than the 2015, Husson's 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape features tart raspberry and citrus notes. A blend of 60% Grenache, 37% Mourvèdre and 3% Syrah, all raised in a combination of foudres and concrete, it's medium to full-bodied, with firm tannins on the finish."

Domaine Alary Côtes du Rhône "La Gerbaude" 2018

"One of the top names in Cairanne, Domaine Alary is a must stop for fans of traditional Southern Rhône wines. There's little oak or artifice here, just impeccable farming and attention to detail in the winery. Starting with the 2016 vintage, the young Jean-Etienne Alary (Denis's son) has hit the ground running as winemaker, after having done harvests overseas at Henschke (in Barossa) and Seresin (in Marlborough). " Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacquerays "Azalais" 2018

Grenache & Syrah (more Syrah these days). The emphasis here is on sublime elegance rather than rich glycerol power, that said there is no lack of muscle. Refined earthy tannins with outstanding levels of fresh savoury dark fruited brambly flavours and graceful poise. This wine for me is forever one of the jewels of the mighty Southern Rhone…and to be honest just keeps getting better (vine age + Serge’s son taking on winemaking responsibilities)!

Domaine du Seminaire Cotes du Rhone 2019

80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Carignan and certified organically grown; this is a deep ruby colour with purple reflections. There’s loads of wild berry aromas with hints of liquorice and menthol and an almost wet stone character; minerality. A good balance of body and fruit on the palate that mirrors the nose. Great tannins structure and the length is excellent.

Domaine Melody Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 2018

100% Shiraz. It opens to reveal a touch of rusticity on the nose. Dark spices, chocolate, graphite, dark plums and woody herbs. The palate is muscular, not over the top, it’s dark and chewy but there’s elegance here. Dark plums and spices interwoven with cured meats, dark chocolate and that graphite-like tannin grip makes for excellent structure all the way to the end. Excellent value Crozes.

More Information

The Rhone Valley is regarded as the benchmark for red wines made predominantly from Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre either as single varietals or blends. From the north where Shiraz reigns supreme to the south where Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre blends dominate red wine production, the world craves them.
