Domaine de Seminaire Cotes du Rhone 2016

70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Carignan and certified organically grown; Notes of raspberries, damp herbs, earth and pepper all emerge from the juicy, forward, quaffable 2015 Cotes du Rhone from Domaine du Seminaire. This deep ruby/purple-tinged 2015 is medium-bodied and lively on the palate, with good richness, chewy tannin and a clean finish. It's a well-made, thoroughly enjoyable Cotes du Rhone to drink over the coming 3-5 years.

Domaine Alary Côtes du Rhône Village "Cairanne" 2014

Here again this is a blend of Grenache, Shiraz & Carignan from the Alary's organic vineyards in Cairanne. This is full-ish but is brought beautifully back in line with bright, savoury, almost spicy, red fruits. The palate floats effortlessly and the fruitiness dances on the tongue with light minerality, anise, raspberry, plum and blackcurrant. The tannins are so fine and savoury too and there's no sense of oakiness to mask the flavours. This is velvety, pure and fine.

Domaine Pradelle Crozes Hermitage 2015

89 Points, robertparker.com, "The tannic 2015 Crozes Hermitage needs a couple of years in the cellar. Ripe blueberries are backed by a firm structure, then pick up appealing hints of liquorice on the finish."

Domaine de Font-Sane Ventoux Vielles Vignes 2015

70% Grenache, 30% Syrah and beautifully bright purple in colour.  The nose is rich and intense underlined by hints of black fruit, pepper and floral aromas. The palate is smooth & rounded (almost slinky & sexy); there are supple tannins and very silky, savoury spices and textural appeal that will develop over the next 5 to 8 years.

Domaine de Font-Sane Gigondas Cuvee Tradition 2015

Made from a 9Ha block in Gigondas from 72% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 3% Mourvèdre & 2% Cinsault.

91 points, Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, "In contrast to the estate's bottling from higher up in the Dentelles, the 2015 Gigondas Tradition offers more fruit and drinkability. Cherries lead the way in this silky, medium-bodied wine that should drink well for 5-8 years. Dried spices fan out on the finish."

Chateau Husson Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2015

87 Points, robertparker.com, "This 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is 60% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah, mostly raised in foudres (85%). It's a spicy and leathery wine, medium to full-bodied and firm without being overly tannic. It should be consumed during its first 5-8 years of life."

More Information

The Rhone Valley is regarded as the benchmark for red wines made predominantly from Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre either as single varietals or blends. From the north where Shiraz reigns supreme to the south where Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre blends dominate red wine production, the world craves them.
