90 Points, Mike Bennie, Wine Front, “Willowlake Vineyard will be a familiar name to those sniffing around Yarra Valley’s icon sites. Here’s chardonnay from that place, through the lens of the Santolin crew. Natural fermentation, sent to 30% new oak, hangs out on lees until leaving oak, sees a filter before bottling but not much else. Spicy, cedary character with ripe citrus, green apple, ginger snap biscuit characters running amok. Juicy in the palate, a touch forward, pleasing in its ripe citrus fruit flavours, shows a touch of honeycomb and a lash of ginger spice. Slippery, slick finish has a nice feel, but might get fatiguing. There’s character here.”

We met Adrian and Rebecca Santolin at the 2015 Young Guns of Wine awards. Adrian is the winemaker while wife Rebecca manages the business and the creative side. Fast-forward to April 2016 and we are very proud to have Santolin Wines as a new addition to our Catalogue.
Using old world wine making techniques such as wild yeast, whole bunch bâttonage and oxidative handling, the wines are then left for up to twelve months in a selection of French oak barrels (Gillet, Sirugue, Ermitage).This small batch approach is made with passion showing great respect for the single vineyard sites which lie in the lower and upper Yarra Valley.

Adrian’s winemaking style is visionary and focused; he, we believe, is a great example of the current flourishing crop of progressive Australian wine makers.

With his Italian heritage, Adrian is of course
 making Sangiovese (Yarraland Vineyard) and Nero d ‘Avola (Heathcote Chalmers Vineyard). Adrian creates vibrant wines with a proud nod to the old world.
