Pooley Wines Riesling 2021

$39.00

James Halliday’s Wine Companion, “50% Derwent Valley, 50% Coal River Valley, destemmed and crushed, fermented with cultured yeast, 2 months on lees. Still quartz-white; I’m tempted to say ‘made in the vineyard’. Fine citrus flavours are given dimension and length by bracing acidity. Received the Consistency of Excellence Award at the Melbourne Wine Awards ’17 for the ’15, ’16 and ’17 vintages.”

More Information

Three generations of the Pooley family have been involved in the development of Pooley Wines, although the winery was previously known as Cooinda Vale. Plantings have now reached over 12ha in a region that is warmer and drier than most people realise. In 2003 the family planted pinot noir and pinot grigio (with more recent plantings of pinot noir and chardonnay) at Belmont Vineyard, a heritage property with an 1830s Georgian home and a (second) cellar door in the old sandstone barn and stables.
