More Information
The village of Cairanne has now been elevated to Cru status in the Cotes du Rhone AOC which ranks it with the likes of Chateauneuf du Pape, the very top of the tree.
Alary “La Gerbaude”: A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah & 20% Carignan, (89-90) Tasted from Barrel by Joe Czerwinski, www.robertparker.com, “The 2020 Cotes du Rhone la Gerbaude looks to be another successful vintage. It’s floral, herbal and spicy up front, with black cherry and licorice notes on the medium to full-bodied palate. The tannins are ripe and creamy, the finish long.”
Alary “l’Estevenas” Cairanne Rouge: The 2018 L’Estevenas is a blend of 55% Syrah & 45% old-vine Grenache. This too is beautifully lifted and perfectly ripe and balanced with spices and tannic grip. Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate, 92 Points “This cuvée, the 2018 Cairanne L’Estevenas, contains fruit from some of the oldest Syrah vines in the Southern Rhône, planted around 1960. It’s full-bodied and concentrated, supple but firmly tannic, with a decade or more of aging potential. Cola and plum flavours develop lots of allspice, clove and pepper notes on the lingering finish.”
Alary Cairanne Tradition Rouge – Tradition is a blend of the typical terroirs and grape varieties we can find in Cairanne. With a dark, purplish red, the strong colour sets the tone. Delicate nose with intense black fruit aromas such as blackberry but also notes of liquorice. The palate is rich, aromatic and the tannins are well-built. Generous and supple, with a lingering finish where the ripe black fruit aromas blend with the spicy notes, brought by the Syrah.
