It has a good sense of purity and depth, with a touch of varnish over the expressive red fruits. Medium-bodied, brisk and energetic in style, this works on acidity as well as fine, fairly dry tannins to create structure and add freshness. The 2017 Cornas Patou is full-bodied and intense, with an attractive dusty texture of chalk dust, charcoal and crushed stone. Red currant and cassis aromas and flavors complement those stony elements, picking up a bit of cracked pepper on the finish.”
